Chicken jalfrezi

Jalfrezi is a characteristic dish of the Punjab region, a rural state on the fertile plains of northern India. This spicy, aromatic sauce has the fruity flavour of tomatoes and red and green peppers.

We add a bag of frozen stir fry vegetables to this recipe. For a good vegetarian version substitute chick peas for chicken. It's delicious! Jalfrezi has become my favorite curry and your brand is the best we can find in the USA!

I've tried all the ready made curry sauces,(and my own) and Sharwoods is definately the best. Jalfrezi is our favourite, I add mushrooms to this recipe. mmm tasty!!

I chop a large red onion, 1 red pepper & 1 green pepper into eight segments, drizzle with oil (I use olive, but any will do) lightly season & roast for 10 mins then add to chicken & sauce then cook. yummy

Would benefit from half a red pimiento(pepper)deseeded added to the recipe. Otherwise an easy and tasty meal.

I've just had some of the Sharwoods Jalfrezi with chicken and onion and rice and it was utterly delicious, such a change from the usual tastes here at the hacienda. However, as i suffer from pains (prob arthritis) I have to minimise my intake of potatos, toms and bell peppers, otherwise I get shooting pains and more aches etc. I look forward to the other half of the jar tomorrow evening.

Try adding peppers to your recipe for more crunch.

Cooking Tip

Balti

The Balti dishes so popular in the UK actually originate in Birmingham rather than India! They get their name from the flat-bottomed wok in which these aromatic curries are cooked and served.
